Founder of High-Tech Park of Belarus shares his experience with representatives of IUT
Founder of High-Tech Park (Belarus) and ex-Ambassador of Belarus to the USA and Mexico (1997-2002) Valery Tsepkalo visited Inha University in Tashkent (IUT).
During the visit to IUT, former director of the High-Tech Park was briefed about the activities of the university in training specialists in the field of information technologies and logistics.
Representatives of IUT provided information to the guest on conditions, created for students and faculty, as well as plans for development of the university.
During the meeting, Valery Tsepkalo shared the experience of Belarus on creation of High-Tech Park and development of IT industry. He also provided information on educational initiatives, implemented in High-Tech Park.
Valery Tsepkalo also answered to questions of IUT representatives about development of High-Tech Park and the support for its residents.
At the end of the meeting, Valery Tsepkalo write his wishes in the Book of Honored Guests of Inha University in Tashkent. He also got acquainted with the campus of Inha University in Tashkent, including new building.
Later, Valery Tsepkalo held a meeting with the representatives of IT companies, operating in Uzbekistan. Mr. Tsepkalo shared insights on creation of High-Tech Park in Belarus, residents of which annually render export services for about US$820 million.
Valery Tsepkalo noted that the IT industry has become one of the key sectors of the Belarusian economy. According to him, the sector earns more than the machine-building industry of Belarus, where such large companies as MAZ, BELAZ, Minsk Tractor Works and others are operating.
He stated that machine-building enterprises import the large volume of components to manufacture their products. While, IT industry products are based on people’s intelligence and everything they earn stay inside the country.
Answering to the questions of the participants, Valery Tsepkalo underlined importance of investing in education, in particular in engineering. In his opinion, high quality engineers, who can develop innovative products and solutions, are required to development of the country. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to improve the prestige of engineering education.
