The 4th Central Asian Internet Governance Forum
The 4th Central Asian Internet Governance Forum: Internet for empowerment of Central Asian takes place at Inha University in Tashkent on the 15th and 16th of May 2019.
The two-day forum aims to provide platform to discuss Internet governance policies in Central Asian countries, where about 200 participants meet annually.
This year, the main topic of the forum was the development of the Internet to expand the capabilities of Central Asia. High-level government officials and representatives from private sector, civil society, academia, experts and international organizations will engage in discussions and share best practices on how to address issues related to cybersecurity, Internet freedom and regulation, development of the DNS industry and access to the Internet as well as global and national approaches to Internet governance.
Within the framework of the Forum, four working groups discuss individual thematic issues, on the basis of which policy recommendations will be formulated for the Central Asian region.
The 4th Central Asian Internet Governance Forum is the first of its kind to be hosted in Uzbekistan and is organized by the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the OSCE Office in Uzbekistan and the Citizen Initiative of Internet Policies of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, with the support of ICANN, the Internet Society, RIPE NCC, Facebook, Kaspersky Lab, IGFSA, UZTELECOM and Inha University in Tashkent.
