In Tashkent was opening of the “Touch math” festival

At IUT, the third educational and practical festival “Touch Math” launched. On the first day, the event visited by a record number of gests interested in mathematics, informing the press service of IUT.

January 15, a three-day festival “Touch Math” opened at IUT. Turdimurat Tursunmuratov Vice-Rector of IUT opened the ceremony with welcome speech. Professor Moon Soon Kim head of the Korean Society for the Study of the Culture of Mathematics for Teachers also welcomed the guests.

Hundreds of children with parents and teachers came to IUT to take part in a unique event “Touch Math”. The event, in fact organized to show how mathematic subject is easy and interesting: no lessons but was interesting exercises for the brain and the development of fine motor skills of the hands. The main goal of the festival is to show the wonders of mathematics and demonstrate that it is a very fascinating science; it is interesting and fun to study and teach children.

On the first day of festival visited more than 2500 of guests. Main visitors was a student of educational schools: from first graders to high school students. More than20 professors of South Korea arrived to Tashkent and additionally 30 Local teachers and professors been involved.75 volunteers, which is students of IUT, were also involved in the event to help.

About twenty various mathematical stands were presented at the festival, where everyone could try to assemble “the Kepler-Poinsot’s Star-shaped polyhedron”, leave a wish in the “Guest Book-Mosaic”, launch the “Magic Mixer”, build the “Sierpinski Pyramid”, solve the “Mathematical Sudoku”, go through the “Labyrinth without a left turn”, collect the “Pentamino Calendar Puzzle” and much more. The festival also hosts contests for students and lectures by South Korean mathematics professors.

The first educational and practical festival “Touch Math“ was in January 2016. This year, attendance is expected to be much higher.

The training and practical festival will be two more days. On January 16 and 17, events will start at 9.30. IUT welcome everyone.
