Admissions-2024 Guideline for Undergraduate programs

1. Admission quota for the 2024-2025 academic year

Applicants who are admitted to the SOCIE will be assigned to one of two departments (CSE and ICE) by the regulation of IUT after completing the first year of the education program at IUT.

Applicants who apply to the SBL MUST choose between Business Administration (80 students quota) and Logistics (80 students quota). Applicants CANNOT apply for both majors at the same time.

Among Pre-University students who pass the final examination, up to 72 students (30% of 240) for SOCIE, up to 19 students (30% of 65) for Business Administration, and up to 19 students for Logistics (30% of 65) can be admitted.

The admission quota may not be completely filled in case the applicants’ scores of the entrance exam (IUT Entrance Examination Admission), the Pre-University final exam (Pre-University Final Examination Admission), or the evaluation of document review and interview (International Student Special Admission / Korean Nationals Residing Abroad Special Admission) are lower than the passing score set by the Admission Committee of Inha University.

2. Eligibility for the 2024-2025 Admission 

2.1 IUT Entrance Examination Admission

Those applicants who satisfy all of the following are eligible for the IUT Entrance Examination Admission:
    –  domestic or foreign lyceum, college or high school graduates or graduates-to-be in the first half of the year 2024.
  –  those applicants who hold a Korean passport are not eligible for IUT Entrance Examination Admission. Applicants with dual citizenship (Korean and other countries) are regarded as Korean citizens.
Those applicants who pass the entrance exam should meet the English Proficiency Requirement:

2.2 Pre-University Final Examination Admission

Those applicants who satisfy all of the following are eligible for the Pre-University Final Examination Admission:

  • domestic or foreign lyceum, college or high school graduates or graduates-to-be currently enrolled as the Pre-University program students.
  • Those applicants who hold a Korean passport are not eligible for Pre-University Final Examination Admission. Applicants with dual citizenship (Korean and other country) are regarded as Korean citizens.

Those applicants who pass the Pre-University Final Examination should meet the English Proficiency Requirements:

The Pre-University students who pass the final exam this year but do not meet the qualification of lyceum/college/high school diploma or equivalent before the beginning of 2024-2025 academic year, will be allowed to enter IUT only after obtaining their diploma from their lyceum/college/high school or equivalent.

2.3 International Students Special Admission

  2.3.1 International Students Special Admission

Those students who satisfy all of the following are eligible for the International Student Special Admission:

  • domestic (Uzbekistan) or foreign lyceum, college or high school graduates or graduates-to-be in the first half of the year 2024.
  • applicants who hold a foreign passport (other than Uzbekistan). Those students who hold a Korean passport are not eligible for International Student Special Admission. Applicants with dual citizenship (Korean and other countries) are regarded as Korean citizens.

Those applicants who pass the International Student Special Admission should meet the English Proficiency Requirements:

   2.3.2 Korean Nationals Residing Abroad Special Admission

Students who are eligible for the qualification of Korean Nationals Residing Abroad Special Admission for 2024 at Inha University or have completed the entire elementary, middle, high school education outside Korea.

3. Admission Process for the 2024-2025 academic year

IUT Entrance Examination will be held – three times, and Pre-University Final Examination – once:

  • Admission fee is collected for all exams (except for the Pre-University Final Exam).
  • Application fee: UZS 200,000 (or 20 USD)
  • The 3rd Exam can be offered after considering the current year’s registration status of successful applicants and the previous year’s unfilled quota.

PLEASE NOTE: The applicants are eligible to apply for either SOCIE or SBL, not both.

For both SOCIE and SBL programs, there are two different admission selection tracks: contract-based and scholarship-based admission.

Those applicants who satisfy all of the following are selected as successful candidates for the scholarship-based admission:

  1. Minimum passing criteria for scholarship-based admission exam set by the Admission Committee of Inha University : Above the minimum score of successful candidates for contract-based admission track in the 1st entrance exam.
  2. Applicants CANNOT apply both for scholarship-based admission and contract-based admission at the same time in the 2nd entrance exam.
  3. Among the applicants in the scholarship-based admission tracks, sixty(60)* students in SOCIE, fifteen (15)* students in SBL(Business Administration), and fifteen (15)* students in SBL(Logistics) are selected respectively based on the test evaluation score ranking, and granted scholarships.
  4. Applicants who are unsuccessful in securing admission through the scholarship-based exam may be considered successful candidates for the contract-based exam, provided they meet the criteria established by the admission committee.

In case of a tie in the evaluation passing scores, successful candidates among students with tie scores are selected in the following order. This policy applies to both contract-based and scholarship-based admission:

① Applicants with higher Math scores
② Applicants with higher English proficiency test scores
③ Applicants with later birth dates

3.1.2 Pre-University Final Examination Admission

  • Special benefit of Admission: Pre-University students who have completed the regular Pre-University program will be offered a final exam. Students with outstanding results will be granted the privilege of admission to IUT
  • Pre-University students can apply for all (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) IUT Entrance Examination Admissions.
  • Preliminary-Pass Criteria: Pre-University students with excellent scores in the Final Exam or the Entrance Exam Admission can be selected as successful candidates even before completing regular high school education, irrespective of their grade year. Successful candidates, who pass the Final Exam or the Entrance Exam Admission but do not meet the qualification of lyceum/college/high school diploma or equivalent before the beginning of the 2024-2025 academic year, will be allowed to enter IUT only after obtaining their diploma from their lyceum/college/high school or equivalent.

 3.1.3 Other

 There is no penalty for incorrect answers

*Applicants who have obtained less than 50% of the interview evaluation score will not be selected.

Applicants are reviewed and evaluated on a rolling basis as all required documents of their application are submitted.
The interview will be conducted based on the documents submitted by the applicant.
After a comprehensive evaluation of English proficiency, self-understanding and values, interest and attitude toward the major, and potential for development, the appropriate number of successful candidates are selected within the quota.

※ International Applicants Special Admission: In case of a tie in the evaluation passing scores, all the students with tie scores will be selected as successful candidates.

※ Korean Nationals Residing Abroad Special Admission: In case of a tie in the evaluation passing scores, the students with tie scores will be selected as successful candidates in the following order:

① Applicants with higher interview scores
② Applicants who have attended more semesters in middle and high school abroad.
③ Applicants who resided abroad for a longer period (who have more days of substantial stay abroad)

  • Copy of passport/ID card;
  • Copy of Diploma from lyceum/college/high school with transcript or verification certificate including enrollment certificate from lyceum/college/high school;
  • Copy of transcript from lyceum/college/high school;
  • Electronic photo taken within last 3 months – 3.5 cm ×4.5 cm;
  • Official English Proficiency Test Certificate (IELTS/ TOEFL iBT) or an official letter issued by the secondary or higher education that certifies their students were taught in English;
  • All of the required documents listed above, especially the Official English Proficiency Test Certificate, must be submitted by the due date.

PLEASE be informed that if the submitted documents, especially the Official English Proficiency Test Certificate or an official letter that certifies the applicant was taught in English, are intentionally fabricated or forged, the applicant’s admission will be canceled and a criminal complaint will be filed against the applicant at any time.

  • Electronic photo taken within last 3 months – 3.5 cm ×4.5 cm;
  • Official English Proficiency Test Certificate (IELTS/ TOEFL iBT) or an official letter issued by the secondary or higher education that certifies their students were taught in English;
  • Personal Statement;
