Employees of Inha University in Tashkent won the scholarship contest of the «El-Yurt Umidi» Foundation

1) Briefly tell us about yourself?

My name is Bobir Muratov, I am 31 years old. I was born in Akkurgan district of Tashkent region in a family of lawyers. We moved to Tashkent when I was 8 years old due to the wide range of educational opportunities in the capital.

I have a bachelor’s degree in World Economy and International Economic Relations from Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Solbridge Business School in South Korea.

Then for 3 years I gained experience in various sectors of the economy in Dubai, UAE. I started working at Inha University in Tashkent in 2015 and currently work in the Department of Academic Affairs and Admissions.

2) Tell us about your accepted university and your planned research work

I was accepted to study for a PhD at the National Higher Education Research Institute, University Sains Malaysia (USM). The university is the fourth state university in Malaysia and ranked 142nd in the QS World Rankings.

My research is on the internationalization of higher education, and I am doing research on the internationalization of higher education in our country. Since the concept of development of the higher education system until 2030 sets out the goal of our country to become an international higher education hub by 2030, I also decided to contribute in this area.

3) Please share your experience of winning the grant of “El-Yurt Umidi” Foundation?

In the spring of this year, a competition for grants of “El-Yurt Umidi” was announced on social networks. With several doubts on mind, I applied as well. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I would win at the time because I knew there would be a tough competition. The admissions system showed the number of incoming documents online. More than 700 applications have been submitted for doctoral studies.

I was also invited (to the interview) among the small number of participants for the second stage. At this stage, my self-confidence has increased significantly. While waiting for my turn, I got to know the other participants and became convinced that they are all young people who are achieving their goals in life on their own.

During the interview, I was a bit confused due to the complicated questions asked by strong experts in the field. The reason is that there are some issues that I need to study further. After a long wait, when the final results were announced, I thanked the Creator for finding out that I was one of the 9 successful doctoral students.

4) Who would you like to recognize in this success?

First of all, I would like to thank my parents and wife, mentors, as well as the team of Inha University in Tashkent and the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications.

5) What are your plans for the future?

I will try to apply the knowledge I have learned and the results of my research in this field, share my knowledge with young people through teaching and continue to work honestly and selflessly in my field.
