In Tashkent, students developed a program that decodes human emotions

Development helps to recognize a person by emotions, how much the listener perceives information, as well as determine the direction of his gaze and even predict further actions of a person.

IUT 4th year students Abdulla Askarov, Shahobiddin Urmanov, Sardor Ibrokhimov, Bedilbek Khamidov, Eldor Abdukhamidov, Sherzod Niyazov under the leadership of Professor Noh Francis Tai developed a unique system called C-Vision, the university’s press service said.

“The program determines the direction of a person’s gaze, recognizes his emotions, comparing this information, for example, with a speaker’s lecture, the service records the level of perception or non-perception of the listener literally every second of the lecture,” says Abdullokh Askarov.

According to the developers, the program is mobile. It can be use in completely different industries: for example, it can be education, security and advertising systems.

“The program can be used to provide security at large events. For example, in a few seconds the service is able to recognize and analyze the emotions and, as a result, the intentions of thousands of people in a sports stadium or in a concert hall. The program captures people with negative emotions and shares them. This simplifies the work of security personnel”, said student developers.

In addition, the service can be use in the field of education – it will determine how students participate in the lecture or lesson process, in which the students or schoolchildren were bored, unclear or interesting.

“Our professor of artificial intelligence, Professor Noh Francis Tai, inspired us to create this program. He said that one should not just study theory, but think about using it in real life. When we got the assignment – the project of the course – we initially decided to create a video surveillance service for city streets, but in the process of development, the program has become quite mobile and easily applicable in various industries. We can also offer this even to advertising agencies. Using the service, you can determine the effect of advertising on the consumer, his emotions on a specific video, banner. Also, if you install cameras on the streets, then using the program you can observe the general emotional background of the townspeople”, the students said.

We should note that IUT students took part in the international artificial intelligence competition Microsoft Thenext AIGuardians 2019 in Warsaw and became finalists. Uzbek programmers for the first time took part in this competition and became winners. As part of the same project, students took part in the Google TakeOff-2019 international startup competition and entered the top 50 projects.
