Employee of Inha University in Tashkent won the scholarship contest of the «El-Yurt Umidi» Foundation

1) Tell us a little about yourself.

I am Askarova Amira, a scholarship holder of the «El-Yurt Umidi» foundation. I am 26 years old. Currently, I am working as the chief specialist of the Academic Management Department of Inha University in Tashkent.

2) What is the name of the master’s program and university you are enrolled in?

I applied to several universities located in the USA and was successfully enrolled in the Master’s program in Higher Education Management. In particular, I successfully entered the University of Pennsylvania, ranked 13th in the World University Rankings according to Times magazine, with $15,000 scholarships of. I also won a $32,000 grant from George Washington University, which is ranked 201-250 in the university rankings.

3) What made you choose this direction?

I received basic knowledge and skills in the field of higher education at Inha University in Tashkent and developed as a specialist. It was at this point that I became interested in this field. After working for almost 2 years, I had the opportunity to compare regional and foreign universities.

4) Tell us about the El Yurt Umidi fund.

The fact that I was admitted to universities and won a scholarship was not enough for a child of an ordinary family. That’s why I submitted my documents after learning that the “El Yurt Umidi” foundation for training specialists abroad and communication with compatriots has announced scholarship contests for education at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels of prestigious universities of advanced foreign countries. The competition was held in two stages. At the first stage, the candidates were selected according to the submitted documents. In the second stage, an interview was held. On the day of the interview, everything was different than I thought. The members of the commission had a very fair and sincere conversation. All candidates were evaluated according to their acquired knowledge and skills. I think that until the announcement of the list of candidates who passed the 2nd stage, the thoughts of whether they will accept me, whether my knowledge is sufficient, whether they were satisfied with my answers to the questions must have crossed their minds. When the final answers were announced, I was very happy to see my “candidate” among those who received the title of “scholarship” of the “El Yurt Umidi” foundation. I am the first child in the history of our family to study abroad, and this is a happy situation not only for me but also for my family. I look at the “El Yurt Umidi” fund not only as a source of financial support, but also as an opportunity to help me grow professionally, spiritually and mentally. I am currently in the process of processing my documents, I am planning to fly to the USA in August 2022.

5) What are your plans for the future?

What I do today depends on how I want to live and who I want to be in the future.

It is my main duty to contribute to the development of the higher education system in our country and to help improve the well-being of my motherland.

My main goal of studying abroad, that is, in the United States of America, is to raise the honor of our country in the whole world.

When I walk on the streets of the USA, people say “Do you know Uzbekistan?” I really wanted them to answer the question “Yes, Sure”. For this purpose, I consider it as my duty to continue my master’s degree in America, to deeply study the educational process there, and to apply this knowledge in my new Uzbekistan.

After receiving the master’s degree, first of all, I want to contribute to the implementation of the tasks set in the concept of the development of the higher education system of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030.

In addition, to invite the leading professors of the universities of the USA to conduct classes, seminars and training sessions for students and professors of the higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan and to open the direction of management in the field of education in our country. I want to implement the project.

This scientific cooperation established between higher education institutions in Uzbekistan and US universities not only serves to increase the level of knowledge of our students, but also solves the problem of personnel, which is very necessary in the higher education system, and provides the highest quality to the labor market.

I believe that this future cooperation will increase the ranking of our regional universities among world institutions and help them enter the list of the world’s 1000 and 500 most prestigious higher education institutions. This achievement will be a foundation and a bridge for me to find my place in the future and become a necessary specialist for the development of our society.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to my parents, who have always supported me, to the management and staff of Inha University in Tashkent, to the representatives of the “El Yurt Umidi” foundation, who found me worthy of this scholarship, and to the President of our country, who is creating such opportunities for young people.
