Diana Nikonorova, a graduate of Inha University in Tashkent, shared her experience of unexpectedly entering the IT field after graduating from the Logistics faculty.
“Working in my specialty was my undeniable goal throughout my studies. Upon graduating from the School of Logistics with a degree in Business Administration in Logistics in 2023, I was searching for a job, just like nearly 120 of my classmates.
The university provided me with an excellent foundation. First and foremost, I want to highlight the importance of conversational English, which was developed through courses taught in a foreign language. Additionally, the university equipped me with valuable soft skills and communication abilities, particularly through the study abroad program 3+1.
My first work experience as a junior staff member and HR assistant began at a company focused on international contracts in the technology sector.
When I was invited for an interview in the information security department of Korzinka, it came as a surprise and even a shock to me. I dedicated all my free time to preparing for the interview, where the knowledge I gained from courses related to technology and mathematics at Inha proved invaluable. During the interview, half of which was conducted in English, I managed to showcase my willingness to embrace new opportunities and my ability to learn quickly.
The initial months were incredibly challenging. The IT team at Korzinka consists of professionals, and it’s hard not to feel lost among them. Therefore, I spent a lot of time reading recommended professional literature after work. At work, in the learning process, I tried to remember as much as possible of what I was taught.
While the attractive salary was certainly a factor, the real draw of the IT industry for me was the chance to develop in a cutting-edge sector. The skills I’ve acquired in technology and information security have significantly expanded my understanding of the world and provided me with valuable tools that enhance my daily experiences.
I must emphasize that, even though my internship has ended and I am now a full-fledged team member, I am still learning—both in my role in IT project management within information security and by gaining new knowledge from Korzinka related to IT audits. Therefore, entering the IT field requires the acknowledgment that you must be ready to develop and put in the necessary effort continuously.
In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude to all my professors, especially to the rector of my university, Muzaffar Djalalov, and my supervisor, Alexander Zorin, for providing me with this incredible opportunity to advance in the IT industry.
