Inha University in Tashkent hosted the inaugural “Map-a-thon,” marking the first occurrence of this event across Uzbekistan

On November 24, the first-ever “Map-a-thon” was launched at Inha University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This three-day event aims to collect current data on the population’s access to drinking water and sewage system coverage. Over 120 volunteers and industry experts will be involved in mapping activities.

The Map-a-thon, a mapping event akin to a marathon, aims to determine the real coverage of the drinking water supply system. It involves surveying households on-site and updating the database of Uzsuvtaminot JSC by visiting mahallas. The assessment will encompass the actual coverage of water supply system connections, GIS status, and the completeness of the Uzsuvtaminot JSC database. The inaugural mapathon will focus on the Yangiyul district.

The event is organized by the Agency for Strategic Reforms, “Uzsuvta’minot,” and Inha University in Tashkent, with financial support from Geo2 and Inttech.
