On November 29, the second season of the “One Million Uzbek Coders” project was launched at Inha University in Tashkent. The event brought together leaders from the IT industry, the education sector, and government institutions to discuss the results and the next steps in developing digital skills among the youth of Uzbekistan.
In his welcoming speech, the Minister for Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, emphasized the importance of the initiative in the context of developing modern professions and in-demand competencies among young people.
A special guest at the conference was Mr. Raghav Gupta, Managing Director of Coursera for India and the Asia-Pacific region. In his presentation, he shared in detail the educational opportunities offered by the Coursera platform, noting that Uzbekistan leads in the number of learners on the platform. The platform’s contribution to the development of skills among students and professionals has become a significant element of the global educational ecosystem.
Rustam Karimjonov, the Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies, presented the future plans within the “One Million Uzbek Coders” project, emphasizing the importance of improving professional IT skills among young people. He also announced the expansion of educational opportunities and support for the best participants in the project.
As part of the event, a special award ceremony was held. Our Inha University in Tashkent was awarded a voucher worth 500 million UZS for educational purposes. These vouchers will provide Inha University students with the opportunity to earn additional certificates, which will contribute to their professional development.
The “One Million Uzbek Coders” project continues to show impressive results, advancing digital competencies among the population and officially launching its second stage.
