Professor of IUT presents research at the 29th Annual GTAP Conference in Japan

Dr. Valijon Turakulov, Associate Professor at the IUT School of Business Administration and Logistics, represented Inha University in Tashkent at the 29th Annual Conference on Global Economic Analysis (GTAP), held on June 17–19, 2026, in Kyoto, Japan.

Together with co-authors Sariya Kazbekova, Altay Zeinelgabdin, and Gulmira Yessenova, he presented the research paper “Digital Governance at the Border: Welfare Consequences of Kazakhstan’s Customs Modernization.” The study applies a Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model to analyze the macroeconomic effects of Kazakhstan’s customs digitalization, demonstrating that reducing border crossing time generates significantly greater economic benefits than lowering administrative fees.

Participation in international scientific conferences of this level contributes to the advancement of the university’s research activities and strengthens international academic cooperation.
